Oculus can capture images from any camera which supports QuickTime Video Capture. Oculus can handle any number of input devices you have connected to your computer provided those cameras can work with each other. Oculus also allows you to create multiple webcam documents that use the same camera. If your computer only has one video camera attached, Oculus will configure itself automatically to use that camera.
Oculus will show a live video feed from each of these cameras in separate video preview windows. You can show or hide each of these windows from the Webcam menu. You can drag an image from any of these windows to the desktop if you wish to save a particular image you see.
Oculus also allows you to use your computer's screen as a Camera. Choosing this camera, you can show the world what you're working on.
Cameras DialogThe Cameras dialog can be accessed from the Webcam menu and provides the ability to name the video source, configure options for each camera (such as video input format, contrast, brightness, etc), and select which cameras to use for cycling.
If you want to configure the settings for a particular camera, press the Setup button next to it. You can also double-click on the preview window for that camera. If you have a camera that you no longer wish to use with Oculus, you can press the Trashcan button to remove this camera from the list that Oculus will use. At startup, Oculus will automatically scan your computer for new cameras. So, if you accidentally delete a camera, don't worry, you can get it back by restarting Oculus.
If you check the Cycle button for a video source, Oculus will consider this camera to be in the list of cameras that it will cycle through when you select Cycle for the input in the Document dialog. Each time Oculus takes a picture, it will take the picture from a different camera from this cycle list.
ScreensOculus automatically adds your screens to the Cameras dialog. You can choose to use whatever is currently showing on your desktop to be used as the image that Oculus uses for your webcam. If you have more than one monitor connected to your computer, each monitor will be treated as a different camera. There are no settings for you to change for the screen.
Adding Video SourcesSometimes you may want to use a still image as a video input. This may be because you wish to cycle between stored images and live video on your webcam, or because you wish to try Oculus before you have a video input source, or because you wish to setup Oculus in a situation without video input.
You can add a still image to be used as if it were a camera by pressing the "Add Source" button in the Camera Setup dialog. You will be asked to select an image file from your local hard drive. This image will then be used in the place of a video input device.
